SAMY x CONDUCTOR

For the SAMY DELXUXE x CONDUCTOR WILLIAMS album campaign, I led the creative direction and production across five music videos, acting partly as supervising producer and partly as director. The core ideas for the project were developed in close collaboration with Samy Deluxe, whose artistic vision shaped the narrative and miniature concept. To bring this vision of analogue artworks to life, we teamed up with Hamburg-based miniature artist AQUAGRINGO, whose handcrafted work defined the visual identity.

The first video “DAMN CONDUCTOR”, co-directed with Mirko Polo (also DoP), introduces Samy’s “BLOCK PARTY” and private art collection, laying the foundation for the miniature approach. Building on our concept of showing Samy with his own train—whether as a puppet or in stop motion – we developed ideas with motion-control scaling techniques for the teasers 2–4. Director Sinem Sakaoglu played the leading creative role in developing and directing these short format ideas, merging her miniature expertise with in-camera motion-control work by Visual Distractions’ Julian Hermannsen.

I directed the final video “PYREX VISION” solo on Visual Distractions’ Milo motion-control rig, returning to the origins of our collaboration by bringing not ony Conductor and Samy Deluxe, but also Afrob together to visualize their fast rap dialogue. The campaign concluded with a making-of film that highlights the value of handcrafted, analog artistry.
