When Samy Deluxe wrote a song about neighborhood, community, and life in the block, Serviceplan München and e+p films brought me on board to turn his lyrics into a music video. His words became our screenplay. I translated each line into a fluid movement through space and atmosphere inside a residential building.
I created a fluid journey through the apartment building: stairs, apartments and shared community spaces as well as a Penny market on the ground floor – all moving in rhythm with the music. Everyday life, grand gestures and small interactions were choreographed to feel natural and spontaneous, yet cinematic and perfectly timed. To enrich the community feeling, we added authentic graffitis and special breakdance performances by teens from Samy’s organization Deluxe Kids e.V.
The video captures the pulse and variety of the community shopping at Penny market, turning Samy Deluxe’s hymn about neighborhood into a living, breathing world – honest, intimate, and full of energy.
